It looks like Kodak is going to let the USA join the rest of the world -- they have announced a catalog number for buying Kodachrome 40 in S8 including a processing mailer.
The exciting part is that it represents a significant savings -- K40 is typically $10.57, and even with cheapo wal-mart processing that still adds $4.88 for a total of $15.45. But the new Kodak catalog number states that it is for "Super 8mm silent cartridge with processing mailer" and its list price is only $13.31! And, get this: the minimum order quantity is just one cartridge!
This catalog number doesn't show up in the shop@kodak site yet or on a search of Kodak's site, but you can see the announcement at:

And it's even cheaper if you have a student ID! I wonder if they also give the 2% pay-in-cash discount as well...

When you say student ID do you mean for a film school or any university? Would a Colorado State University work? How much of a discount do you get?

I am not by a Kodak catalog at the moment but if what you say is true then that would be great!!! I know that they are screwing you hard if you want 400' 1R16mm Kodachrome--They are trying to get $194.00, plus you need to buy five at a time. Oh, well at least they are still making it. Good Luck

Hey, the board is finally back up...good news!
I just read this post and printed up the pdf file.
I'm to stop by Kodak here in Hollywood and find out if this is true (I'm sure it is).
Now I wonder if the student discount will work with this also, if it does it will only cost around 10.50 per cartridge with processing, that's awsome!
Later,
Scott
